Lea learned how to assimilate into a new culture at a young age making a transcontinental trek as a first generation immigrant from Switzerland to the US. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was two years old with the plan of moving back in a year, but years later she is still a Swiss transplant living in Southern California. Growing up, Lea’s love for travel blossomed when her family would pack up their VW Vanagon and spend weekends camping and exploring. She also spent her summer breaks visiting her Swiss relatives. Immersed in various cultures during her childhood, Lea developed an undeniable spark for traveling whether overseas or a drive from home. She was excited to further her knowledge by pursuing her undergraduate business degree by concentrating in International Business and Marketing at California Polytechnic State University of San Luis Obispo. Upon graduation, she and her close friends booked a flight and bought a Euro Rail pass to explore Europe.
Her 2-month backpacking journey took her and her friends to Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, England, Spain, France and Italy. This trip sparked her immense love of travel and since she has explored other parts of the world including the United Arab Emirates, India, Hong Kong, Belize, Thailand, Mexico, Canada, Croatia, Greece and Turkey. Her favorite memories include being swarmed by monkeys in Ayutthaya, Thailand, enjoying the remarkably beautiful sunset in Santorini, Greece, experiencing a typical Turkish Bath in Selcuk, Turkey, and experiencing first hand driving through rush hour traffic in Mumbai, India. She appreciates what each country has to offer and immerses herself in the culture. Lea is always ready to take her next adventure when time and money permits. Aside from traveling, in her free time Lea enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, being active and outdoors, wine tasting, serving the community, camping, reading the Bible, star gazing, snowboarding, watching the Amazing Race and drinking a cold Amber Lager beer.
Mixing her degree in business and her love for travel, Lea is currently a Sales Manager, Tour Operators for One&Only Palmilla, Los Cabos, Mexico. She feels fortunate to work for a resort that is recognized as one of the top hotels in the world and enjoys the fast paced volatile market the travel industry provides. Lea is looking forward to connecting with people who are equally as passionate about travel as she is in her role as the VP Communications of the Los Angeles Chapter with Young Travel Professionals.
