Kimi Christopulos was born and raised in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  It is here in her backyard that she discovered a deep connection with wildlife and nature.  Inspired, Kimi started studying the new and unfamiliar: destinations, food, culture and music – the world became her playground!  Kimi traveled modestly in her youth, exploring the United States and Canada, living in Italy for a summer, visiting Turks and Caicos for spring break and hiking the Rocky Mountains, which have now become her home. But it wasn’t until she spent time on African soil that she truly found her calling.

Introduced to African travel 7 years ago, Kimi knew immediately that she had found her niche.  Now a Safari Specialist at Extraordinary Journeys, you will find her on the road several months throughout the year, exploring Africa and beyond!  Kimi has traveled throughout Kenya and Tanzania by both plane and overland to experience the feel of each country. In Ethiopia, Kimi traveled to the North’s most holy churches and monasteries. She has trekked for mountain gorillas in Uganda and spent time in the Kyambura Gorge with chimpanzees. She has also lazed on the beaches in Zanzibar and shopped at the Stone Town markets. Kimi has canoed through Botswana’s Okavango floodplains and walked through the bush with a trio of African elephants.  She has snorkeled with sea lion and giant tortoise in the Galapagos Island and enjoyed scuba diving in the Maldives to witness some of the underwater world’s most coveted species.  Her most recently adventure? Traveling "back in time" to Cuba!

In her spare time, you can find Kimi running with her dogs, doing yoga or checking out the newest restaurant in Denver.  She is excited to include gatherings with the YTP group to the list, where she and her like-minded peers can brainstorm about their travel experiences, conservation and the positive impact their generation can make in the travel industry!
