Kainoa is Director of Sales of the Oʻahu Visitors Bureau, a subsidiary and Island Chapter of the Hawaiʻi Visitors & Convention Bureau. He also serves as Cultural Advisor for the HVCB, statewide. With a background in Waikīkī hotel sales, Kainoa has a passion for the culture of Hawaiʻi and combines the two areas within Hawaiʻi’s visitor industry. In Kainoa’s spare time (if you can call it that), he chairs the King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade, is an active member of the Royal Order of Kamehameha I and sits on a dozen too many boards.
In March of 2011, Kainoa was recognized by Hawaii Business magazine as “20 for the next 20,” designed for individuals whose intelligence, energy and vision make them people to watch over the next two decades. Still not sure who he paid off.
A resident of Honolulu, Kainoa is a graduate and active alumnus of the Kamehameha Schools and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration.
Kainoa is also the self-appointed, self-elected, unofficial Mayor of Waikīkī.
