After 18 years in the corn fields of rural Illinois, John realized there was a huge world to explore. Transformed into a city dweller, John spent 4 years studying Hospitality and Tourism at Boston University’s School of Hospitality Administration. John became the first Freshman to land an internship with Marriott Hotels & Resorts at the Marriott Copley Place in Boston where his dream had been realized and his journey began.
Four years later, John had worked for Marriott, Starwood and InterContinental - three of the largest international hotel brands. Post graduation, he joined Kimpton Hotels Manager In-Training program.
While hotels had always been his passion, John quickly realized there was much more to the industry and moved to NYC to join Jetsetter.com. Within 2 years, he gained extensive experience in customer service, sales, and business development with a focus on adventure travel working with tour operators. His position as Tours & Events Specialist made him quickly fall in love with pure adventure-driven travel. This led him on an amazing 2 week adventure to Patagonia where he rafted class 5+ rapids on the mighty Futaleufu River in southern Chile.
After spending 4 years learning the ropes around Adventure Tourism, John went back to his hotel roots and now works with CheckMate where he helps hotels improve their guest communication through new technologies.
When he’s not working, you can usually find John on the soccer pitch, on the slopes, or flying through the sky as he works to become skydive certified.
