Elena wasn’t born with sand between her toes, although it seems that way. From part of her childhood spent in a small Southern California beach town that came alive with summer tourists to her current life in Hawaii, Elena has never strayed far from the water.

She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo (yes, just stone’s throw from the Pacific) and embraced the school’s learn-by-doing philosophy. She spent summers as a night audit at a small college town hotel, worked the front desk at a remote lodge in Montana’s Glacier National Park, and helped run a kids’ club at a San Diego bay side resort.

With a degree in Tourism Management in hand, Elena found herself as an intern at the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau, happily surrounded by the tourism industry and the beach lifestyle she loves. She went to work for an international travel distributor, learning market trends and the complex profiles of Hawaii hotels. Elena is currently product manager for a top global wholesaler. On weekends, you can find her at the beach or on a boat enjoying life on the water.
